You can stay overnight at five California lighthouse properties: Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel, Point Montara Light Station Hostel, East Brother Light Station, Point Cabrillo Light Station, and Point Arena Lighthouse.

Five California lighthouse properties offer overnight stays:

• Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel — Hostelling International runs four cottages adjacent to the tower at Pigeon Point Light Station, south of Pescadero. Shared and private rooms, kitchen, hot tub on the bluff with the lighthouse in view. Reservations open months ahead.
• Point Montara Light Station Hostel — also Hostelling International. North of Half Moon Bay on the San Mateo coast. The light tower is on-property and the keeper's quarters serve as hostel buildings. Hostel rates, kitchen included.
• East Brother Light Station — a four-room bed-and-breakfast on a small island in the San Pablo Strait, accessible only by boat. Book months in advance. The most expensive and most exclusive option.
• Point Cabrillo Light Station — two keeper houses and two cottages on the Mendocino coast, available for overnight rental.
• Point Arena Lighthouse — cottages, suites, and studios on the station grounds, steps from the tower.
