You can stay overnight at three California lighthouse properties: the Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel (HI USA), the Point Montara Light Station Hostel (HI USA), and the East Brother Light Station — a small bed-and-breakfast on a Bay Area island.

Three California lighthouse properties offer overnight stays:

• Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel — Hostelling International runs four cottages adjacent to the tower at Pigeon Point Light Station, south of Pescadero. Shared and private rooms, kitchen, hot tub on the bluff with the lighthouse in view. Reservations open months ahead.
• Point Montara Light Station Hostel — also Hostelling International. North of Half Moon Bay on the San Mateo coast. The light tower is on-property and the keeper's quarters serve as hostel buildings. Hostel rates, kitchen included.
• East Brother Light Station — a five-room bed-and-breakfast on a small island in the San Pablo Strait, accessible only by boat. Book months in advance. The most expensive and most exclusive option.

Point Cabrillo Light Station in Mendocino County also offers keeper-house rentals through the state park.
