History

Southampton Shoal Light was a lighthouse on a shoal in San Francisco Bay, established in 1905. The original screw-pile structure was removed in 1960 when the station was automated and its operations transferred to Point Blunt. The lighthouse was relocated to Tinsley Island on the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, where it serves as a private clubhouse for the St. Francis Yacht Club.

Why it matters

One of the few surviving screw-pile lighthouses on the West Coast, now privately owned. Its relocation to Tinsley Island is a notable preservation story.
